|Principle Uses:|| ROOM FRAGRANCE: Juniper can be used as a room fragrance on its own, but it is much nicer when mixed with Lavender oil, the whole blend producing a wonderful relaxing fragrance.
INHALATION: A few drops in hot water and the vapors inhaled may - due to its mild antiseptic properties - help nasal and bronchial infections, or the congestion following infections such as flu. Inhalation of the vapor may have a mild diuretic effect.
BATHS: 5-6 drops of Juniper oil in the bathwater can make a wonderfully relaxing soak. It is particularly good mixed with Lavender, and is ideal following strenuous work like gardening, building or after traumatic exercise’s such as running or competitive swimming. The combination of mental relaxation caused by a warm bath, plus the inhalation of the essential oil is hard to beat for relieving stiffness and aching of the muscles. When people are overtired, but find difficulty sleeping, it has a tendency to have a tranquillizing effect, which can lead to a gentle drift into sleep.
MASSAGE: An ideal oil for: insomnia, anxiety and general stress, but its prime use is for muscular aches and pains and NON-INFLAMMATORY arthritis. Juniper oil is ideal for local massage of areas of tight or knotted muscle, it helps heat up the tissues and can provide first class relief from pain caused by overworked or strained muscle. It may be helpful for bronchial ailments, acne and over active or damaged skin.
Oil could cause adverse skin reactions because of the turpentine fractions or other irritant chemicals use to 'assemble' the oil. It may cause skin irritation unless it is well diluted, but mild skin irritation can be helpful for stiff muscles. It is not advisable to drive immediately after the use of this oil in massage, or in the bath, as some people feel a little "dreamy" for a while. Must be kept away from children and the eyes. not for use during pregnancy.
